What a Wedding!
When I first met Chris and Laura, I instantly felt at ease. The warmth and love this couple share with not only each other, but with their family and friends too was obvious. I knew the day was going to be a beautiful reflection of the couple.
A Holmfield Arms wedding
Arriving at the venue, the Holmfield Arms, situated next to a golf course, I had with me my second shooter, the lovely Charlotte from Soul Images. The sun was shining and my excitement and anticipation was growing. With every wedding, I made my way up to the bridal suite to meet the bride and her bridal party. Laura was very relaxed and was chatting away to her sisters and running around after her little boy Max. Personally, this part of the day is one of my favourites. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and it gives me a little time to get to know a bit more about the bridal party. We had occasional visits from the best men, doing their errands for the day. Soon after, Laura’s dad made his appearance and things started to get a bit emotional. I think it was at this point that things started to become real for Laura.
As the ceremony started, tissues were being handed out left, right and centre. It was a beautiful service and the love between Chris and Laura was evident.
Shortly after the ceremony I managed to steal the bride and groom away from their wedding party and we made our way into the park and golf course for some couples pictures. Usually, it’s during this time that the bride and groom get a chance to really take it all in and this was no different for Chris and Laura.
With a lot of weddings there can sometimes be a lull between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast, but with this wedding there was certainly no lull. Everyone was in really good spirits and chatting away to each other. Despite there being only around 50 guests, there were a varied mixture of people. A lot of the family had come from far and wide. One couple had even travelled from Norway!
The Speeches were short and sweet, just the way I like them. Once the food and speeches were out of the way, the guests made their way to the dance floor and the wedding party started up.
The entire day was a beautiful, family affair. Everyone made me and Charlotte feel so welcome.
I’m still friends with Chris and Laura. Even Chris’ mother and the couple from Norway. We keep in touch on social media a lot. That’s one of the best things about photographing a wedding, coming away making friends and feeling like a part of the family.
Thank you to Chris and Laura for allowing me to capture your special day!
